Large village located at the very heart of the island. Its inhabitants are farmers. For several decades this is where the Agricultural Exhibition has been taking place, but over the past few years it has been on the decline because of the urbanization of the lifestyle of the island’s inhabitants. The village has large areas of arable land and pastures for cattle and other livestock. Many old and beautiful sheds can be seen on the farms. Fratsia was one of the most active communities before it was integrated into the municipal corporation of Kythera, and played a major role in the island’s agriculture. Nevertheless, the people of Fratsia are still very active and forward-looking. This is also the birthplace of former Member of Parliament Grigorios L. Kasimatis.
