    Description

Kalami Beach, nestled near the village of Mylopotamos on Kythira Island, is a secluded gem offering visitors a tranquil retreat amidst stunning natural beauty. This small, picturesque beach is characterized by its fine pebbles, clear turquoise waters, and surrounding sea caves, making it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and a connection with nature.

Reaching Kalami Beach requires a sense of adventure and physical readiness. Visitors must first drive towards the Monastery of Panagia Orfani, where the paved road ends. Limited parking is available near the monastery. From there, a 15- to 20-minute hike along a dirt path leads to a steep descent aided by ropes, making sturdy footwear essential. This challenging access ensures that the beach remains uncrowded, offering a peaceful environment for visitors.

Kalami Beach boasts deep, crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The surrounding rocky landscape and sea caves add to its allure, providing opportunities for exploration. Notably, the seabed near the center of the bay houses a sunken cannon, intriguing for those interested in underwater discoveries.

The beach lacks organized facilities; there are no sunbeds, umbrellas, or nearby eateries. Visitors should bring their own provisions, including water and snacks, and carry bags to collect any waste, preserving the beach's pristine condition. Due to the challenging access, Kalami Beach is not recommended for families with young children or individuals with mobility issues.

Before descending to the beach, consider visiting the Monastery of Panagia Orfani, built on a cliff and offering panoramic views:
